Rental terms vary across services: some require a deposit, some don't; payment is made in different currencies. Let's go over it all using the example of CSRENT.
What a deposit is
A deposit is a refundable sum the service temporarily holds as a guarantee that an expensive item will be returned. It's not a rental fee: after the week-long term ends and the skin is returned, the deposit comes back to you.
With and without a deposit
| Parameter | No deposit | With a deposit |
|---|---|---|
| Starting amount | Rental price only | Rental + refundable deposit |
| Available items | Usually inexpensive | Including expensive ones |
| Deposit refund | — | After the rental ends |
| Good for | Fast renting | Expensive knives and gloves |
Payment methods
- Rubles — for users in Russia and the CIS.
- Euros — for users in Europe.
- Dollars — a universal international option.
- Crypto — anonymous and not tied to any country (BTC, USDT, ETH and others).
Never send payment to a "manager's" personal card. A legitimate service accepts payments through a secure payment system.
What's important to check
- Whether a deposit is needed and how it's refunded.
- Whether fees are included in the final price.
- What happens if you miss the return deadline after 7 days.
- How support handles disputes.
